Spark plug wire troubles...
Hey guys...I have a '95 F250 with a 460 and manual trans, 170,000+ miles, and until recently ran well. I had trouble with engine missing, so put in new plugs and also bought $45 autolite (I think) wires. Truck ran perfectly for several days, then developed severe miss again. Since wires were new, I looked in other places...replaced ICM, distributor, some sensors...then pulled off each plug wire and re-attached. Truck still had a problem, but I had CHANGED the problem, so new wires seemed like the problem. My question....does someone make wires that more reliably connect to spark plugs? I can wiggle the boot and feel the connector inside is not quite secure. I also don't like the crappy heat shields protecting plugs from exhaust manifolds...anything better out there? I looked at Summit Racing's website and see other wires there, but really need some advice on what will solve problem for sure...thanks!

Welcome to the forum!
Try giving each boot a little squeeze with a pair of pliers to tighten up the retaining clip inside.
I use Napa Belden Premium Plus wires. They are not too expensive at my cost and seem to last forever.
Use a tiny bit of that dielectric silicone that comes with them inside the plug boot so that they can slip on easier and won't get stuck on forever.
Try making sure that the #7 & #8 wires are not run next to each other. These plugs fire one after the other and an inductive discharge can cause a miss like you have if the wires you're using don't have good shielding.
