5.0 5 speed to 5.8 5 speed

ya'all think it would be worth my while to get a 5.8 and going through it adding a better cam, heads, etc instead of just freshing up my 5.0 and hopping it up a bit? either way i plan on swapping in a zf to replace the m5od.

Yes.. easily, though for you installing a 5.8 is going to be a bit more complicated because your truck isn't already mass air.

What is that and what is it going to cost you?

You can have mass air on your truck pretty easily and cheaply since you have a stick, just buy a Mustang EEC and pull the engine harness off a junkyard truck that has MAF and make an injector and MAF overlay harness for your truck from it.

FAST: Multiport Retro-Fit EZ-EFI® Kit
i found it looking for efi for my wagoneer. the full kit is pretty sweet, i was worried it was just smoke and mirrors but everything i've read and seen has been great. i'm not great with techno-babble and this is kinda like efi-for-idiots.

With that kit it looks like it will still be SD , you could just add the harness and computer to make your truck SFI with mass air , like conanski said , thats a very good system that will support what ever HP level you want , but if your just going to put in a stock 5.8 you don't need either....Lew

it'll still be sd but i'm ok with that, it going to be more of a mild 351, but not stock. also all the MAF kits i've looked at cost more than this set up and i'm not really capable to tune it if necessary, it amazing i can work a computer enough to get on to this site!
