Camper shells

I'm looking for a camper shell for my 05 SB. Want to know what is the best ones out there. Sure like the Leer due to the contour of the sides. What do you guys think.

Personally I like ARE, the Z Series in particular. No visible hardware on the rear window, perfect color match, doesn't leak.

I had one on my F150 too. You might want to check them out.

+1 on ARE mine fits nice, frameless windows and carpeted head liner.

Picked up a LEER (Browning Special Edition) off of craigslist a couple of weeks ago for $500. Aside from the color not matching it fits the truck perfectly and luckily the former owner always stored in garage. One really nice feature about the LEER's is the contoured sides as you mentioned. Will have it repainted to match the truck soon.

A.R.E. are top shelf.
For a Superduty application, you should look at the CX line.
Remember that when you want fancy looks, you sacrifice strength and durability.

I agree with benchwrench. Wish i had gone for the "basic" model instead of the "z" top end.

Things i dont like

1. Rear window latch freezes stuck in wet/freezing temps. Can get it open from outside but would i be trapped if i was trying to open from inside?

2. The "wing" windows actually feel cheap. The winder **** and whole assemply doesnt feel like it will last. I would rather have a slider like my 92 aerostar van had!

3. Edges of cap along tailgate, the seam is bare/rough i understand this is part of the moulding but it should be finished/caped

4. The roof racks dont seem strong. Had 2 canoes about 60 and 70 lbs and i wouldnt put any more weight up there

Not ARE fualt just nature of the design but the ones that extend to cover the bed rails do look MUCH better but have two big drawbacks. First taking the cap off it will be more difficult to rig something to hold it. And second you cant use those stake hole roof racks that use a flat plate to slip under the camper top then have an external frame up to ladder racks.

Honestly if i did it again i think i would go for one of the smooth aluminum caps i see around. Not sure of manufacture but they paint to match and actuqlly look pretty good especially on the 8-10 boxy body lines
