See www.valair.com for the clutch. There's other options but these guys are top notch. I was told to ask for Gary or Dan. I ordered mine on Wednesday at 14:00 and received it on Thursday at 13:00!! That was no special shipping or anything. But as easy as changing a clutch is you could always use your donor clutch for a while too. I got about 6 months out of mine.

A donor F350 would be nice. I wish I had thought of that at the time. However , I did get a rockin deal on my donor that actually ran. By the time it was over I got all my swap parts, a ton of extra stuff, and sold various stuff and then the truck and came out somewhere between even and small profit. I initially put into it about what a decent auto rebuild would cost.

If you have the money for a BTS auto then that's the way to go. There's no handshaker in the world that can hang with those and a lifetime warranty too, dude. But they are a chunk of change...

Holy crap those darn things are very expensive! I'll probably just stick to regular clutches until I get enough horsepower to warrant a performance clutch.

If you look under the ford section they have more to choose from anywhere from $200-$600 depending on what hp they're rated for

Yeah I got a 350 hp organic w/ brass buttons unit for like $330 or so shipped. Came with a clutch disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing, pilot bearing, and alignment tool. Already had a solid mass flywheel though.

i dont know what it would cost from the boneyard but i cant imagine getting the trans and everything needed off the truck clutch pedals and such that it would still be over $800-1000. i would replace the clutch prior to install.

What transmissions will work? Only E4OD for auto or ZF 5 speed for manual?

Also, what year trucks will be compatible? Only 94.5-97?

Im not sure when the zf5 started so I can't tell you what years for sure but either way auto or manual you need a trans that came off a 7.3

So 6.9 is a no-go? Will 7.3L IDI transmissions work? How about Super Duty transmissions? Are the 2WD transmissions the same as the 4x4 transmissions?

4r100 is the auto sd trans. It is plug and play. The sd manual is a zf 6 speed. It will bolt on but requires some fabrication beyond what you probably want to do. Plus a sd donor will only yield you a transmission.

2x4 and 4x4 are not the same. Completely different tail housings.

6.9 won't work. Any 7.3 will though but pedals and stuff won't work from some of the earlier years. Best bet would be 9

Oops. Stupid phone.

92 or 3 I think --> 97 and you'll have all you need. The drive shafts are also configured different with the cab configurations

Thanks for the help. Okay, then, I know what I'm looking for. I'll keep my eye out for a supercab F-350 powerstroke 4x4 so I can go ahead and swap to a Dana 60 while I'm at it. That way, I can use the driveshafts from the 350 because I know that both the transmission swap and the axle swap would require different driveshaft lengths. I'll have a while to find one, because it'll be quite some time before I'll have the resources to pull this off. I just wanted to know what I was looking for. Thanks, everybody.

That's the best way to do it. Give yourself plenty of time so you can really find a good deal
