you want it to last don't you? get regular parts, run 12-15 psi, keep the EGT's as far under 1200 as possible. DO NOT REV IT TO 3900 rpm! good god thats asking for problems! the engine revving that high is just wow stupid. the revving has to do with the rotating force as well as the parts holding it together. there
s a reason it hits the yellow line at 3 and redlines at 3500
trying to build a performance engine out of one a these won't be as reliable as a stock rebuild no matter what anyone says.

Hey as the other guys said and if you are wanting to upgrade to stronger wrist pins and performance pistons and such here is what ive found and asking a few people they said that the pistons are lowered compression for more boost and the performance bearings also and the gasket kit basically you can rebuild it with all high performance parts and be sure no matter how hard you punish it it wont let go and best part its not to awful more than the ih kit with performance parts for a so called built idi just throwing this out since money no issue Hypermax - Shopping Cart

Ive asked a few guys on facebook that have the hypermax parts in there motors and they all told me that no the hypermax pistons withstood way more temps and were lowered compression, and they said the wrist pins were very heavy compared to what they pulled im not saying go with it but thats what the 2 guys i spoke to said and i got no reason to doubt them i mean think hypermax couldnt just make the same parts as international then people run them as high performance like they were told and they break and then hypermax gets in trouble for false advertising just my 02

since this is my first rebuild ever i think i will just stick with the stock internals, if i was willing to really try and push power and torque then i wouldnt of lifted it lol maybe in the future i will do a performance build...but for now just the ford or international replacement will do

glad to see you stay on the side of consistent reliability 91! just because were young (20's) doesn't mean everything has to be super fast and who's got the fastest blah blah blah im young to and i chose reliability over speed. when my rebuild comes it will get a international kit. maybe head studs. depending on financing, not necessary for performance but for the fact studs don't ever really stretch and its better for the longevity of the head gaskets. and the stock ford turbo system.

i know what you mean i just don't like the idi of shaving the pistons down to some crazy low compression the engine wasn't designed for and revving it super high all the time and expecting anything to last a turbo system designed to get more power out of a basically stock setup is one thing trying to crank amazing power out of one a these when it was designed as a workhorse and not a speed demon and destroying a good truck is another

Im using dave as a example power and dependibility both you just have to do it right and go through every detail to make them go hand in hand and i imagine if dave had these hypermax parts his motor may even be able to bring more hp to life still staying dependable its all about the build method. Sure i could shoot a lot of nos into my intake and make one run at 300hp but it would blow or you could take 2yrs getting it all right and fine tunned to make 300hp and have a dailydriver that had no troubles.

then there is that too lol i get 18+ MPG outta my truck cruising at 65 unloaded with my bone stock N/A 7.3 and that is my number 1 reason for leaving my fuel screw and such alone. the fuel price is to high to try and increase performance as well. i'd love to have my turbo on to increase my MPG towing and thats my number 1 reason for wanting the turbo.
