There needs to be an APP for RHN

One of you super smart computer guys need to help Jim (Megawatt00) design an APP for RHN for the Andriod and iphone. It would be real nice to be able to have access to the Roadside Help Network people just in case. Most folks don't have their laptops sitting in the cab when the truck breaks down.

Or is this a idea?

I run it on my Droid with no problems. Having an APP or a mobile site would be ok, but since there is not a lot of useless junk on there it works fine from mobile devices. I was checking it out during a dinner out the other night, my wife was having dinner with her friends. I stayed fully amused surfing RHN while she gossiped away. A mobile site would probably be easiest for everyone though.

It is something that we can look into. I run Opera Mini on my Blackberry and it loads up with no problem what so ever.

The process doesn't look too difficult, at least from seeing how the apps are done for my Apple iPod touch. Biggest problem on the Apple side is getting it published on iTunes since it looks like the development kit is no charge, though they recommend the fee based "membership" to make submitting apps easier. I have not looked at the Droid or Blackberry side yet. The new HP/Palm WebOS may be similar as well as I was once a Palm developer and that was pretty straight forward. The other fly in the ointment is access to the website information and some of the configuration parameters, in order to create a "robot" to get forum headers/titles/etc. An alternative solution is to create a low bandwidth version of the whole site.
