Cab ready to paint. Starting to pre-mount some accessories like the drivers Spotlight.

Al.lug... Need your help

Hi All... Newer to this forum, came across al.lugs truck, and looks like our color but not sure. No color code on our truck. Its either silvertone grey or sea island green. Any way I can see more of your pics to help me out in choosing a color?

Welcome to FTE LuLuBelle ,

Try looking for a stamp in the cowl on the driver's side toward the center. It will have your color code.

Here's a pic of mine to help you with the location. The first "H" is Silvertone Gray.

Hi LuluBelle, welcome to FTE.

Check the colors of 1951 Ford Trucks to compare with yours. There´s only one gray color on 1951 ford trucks and that´s Silvertone Gray. It has a pale green tone. My truck has that color, you can see it almost ready on the second pic.

Look for the VIN number on your truck, you will be able to find it at the Rating Plate inside the glove box or stamped somewhere in the chassis. Mine was at the right front arm.

You can check the codes at thread #8. Silvertone Gray is "H".

If you still have any doubts come again to the FTE, if I´m unable to answer someone will, there´s lots of knowledge here.

Best luck.

Yes, that will work if the truck was manufactured after September 4, 1951.

But my 1951 truck was manufactured in August, 1950 and does not have that style rating plate in the glove box. There is no color stamp on my rating plate. That, I suppose, is the reason I have the stamped cowl which includes the paint code.

By the way Al, I think your truck looks great in Silvertone Gray.

Thank you for your help.... We do not have the color code in our plate, and cant seem to find one stamped in the truck...will check again by the cowl.
Looking at this pic of Silver tone Gray, I can really see the difference, thank you! Ours is most definitely the Sea Island Green!

Sivertone Gray is also the original color of my truck. After seeing how nicely yours turned out, I may just return mine to the stock color when I finally get around to painting it.

Sorry for the thread hijack!
