Was that truck on Ohio craigslist back in Jan? Look familiar.
I tired find 3G alternator for mine 6.9L problem is they don't make mounts. It 3 mounts instead 2 mounts on 6.9L.
If you plan put bigger alternator then get biggest cable for alternator to relay to battery. Original cable too small it would melt when under load.

yes, true if the PO of your truck wasnt a total jackwagon.
I only have two wires for the Alt, one large from the alt lead and one small from the "field" spade connection. One to the battery and one to the relay. The voltage reg is there but only with three wires in use. It is a cluster. Need to rip it all out and start fresh but it works. Or....is my setup how it is, with just small issues? not likely.
EDIT: one to battery, one to VR sorry.

Then when you put the 3G in you rip all this junk out, and run a new heavy-gauge charge cable between the alt and the battery or starter relay (wherever it is you draw most current from), and just extend the original key-on 12V wire (green in color, with a red stripe) and hook it up to the alternator, and you're good to go.

Oh so you mean i can ditch everything and just have essentially two wires? But what about the socket connection on the alternator? It looks like you need a connector? Will or should this come from the JY? It'd be nice to know how or why mine works without the stator wire hooked up, is it just for signalling a tach or?

10th MTN Hooah haha. You guys replaced 2ID on FOB loyalty while i was there in 2008. Good times.....lol
As for the alternators, i just called and the JY has one from a 1995 taurus with the 3.8l and is listed as a 3G 130amp. 50 bucks. That place macs i mentioned can get me into a rebuilt 130amp 1 wire 3G alt for 150. Here is the question i have. Is it really that much better, i have a 100amp from napa right now but it is the 1G. Im looking for the low end power that these things supposedly provide. I saw it in action on that link posted so i am optimistic. I just see my volt meter hang low for awhile after the GP's do their thing. Especially when i do repeated startups in the drivethrough windows, lol. A quick rev and it comes up after a few seconds but thats not what i want to see. Id like to see it snap back up. Realistic?

Alternator is good. They let me swap it anyway. After being stranded at Home Depot, I jumped it and now it's over charging. 16 volts at idle. So I've gone to the opposite spectrum. Electrical ghost and I've got no clue.
it is a 100 amp alternator. I looked up the part number. Voltage regulator replaced and batteries are new. I'm stumped
