Kyle_KleinSS , did the cps that you got from International come in a sealed plastic package or a box? I'm just making sure that you didn't accidentally(someone parts swapping)end up with a cps for a dt466(dark blue)which will retard your timing 2 degrees and kill your fuel mileage.

The so called "new and improved" one that I just bought is dark gray with a bright purple O-Ring. DU-87____F4TZ-12KO73-C.

if you look on the side the number is molded in to it, you can see what you have.

Kyle - Could this be related to a loose wiring harness. Have you done the .50 cent mod yet?

I may have to put the grey one back in and see if that changes my mileage or not over the black one I put in that I got from Clay. I filled up the other day and it about took my breath away. Has anybody ran the different CPS's for a period of time and recorded any change in mileage?

No I havent. The truck is smooth as butter. If its the harness thats loose causing it to suck fuel wouldnt it run rough?

Also Im in Illinois and using winter blend fuel of course. And I got 315 tires now. I had this problem before the tires so I am gonna rule them out. And the winter blend wouldnt drop me that low would it?

With the gray CPS I was getting 16-17 MPG's at best. When I put in the dark blue, it stayed close to the same, but I only ran it for a few months. The black CPS gives me better mileage, I can get a little over 20 mpg on the highway, and 18 mixed. When I tow (8500#) I get pretty much 10-11 MPG's no matter what CPS I use, but that is most likely caused by my right foot.

I am getting just over 11 mpg in the city. Most of my driving is city driving. I am also thinking possibly exhaust leak or maybe the ICP sensor I checked it once and it was oil? I just checked for boost leaks and everything checked out good. Unless 11 mpg is considered good for city driving?

Im in about the same boat. Put grey cps back in to test. Just filled up i was just a hair above a 1/4 tank. 310 on trip, 24 gallons. 12.9 mpg. I am kind of going to relate my mpg to my short commute. I only drive 8 miles to work and 8 miles home. Not that far and Im sure driving when not warmed up isnt helping. Cant wait for summer. I took a small trip tonight and taking a 2 hour one tomorrow. Gonna fill up when I get home and check mileage. Next time I take a long trip Ill put the dark grey one back in and check again and compare. Im possibly thinking the truck is fine its just a combo of winter blends fuel, and the short commutes made mostly on a cold motor. I only let it run a few mins before I leave, and if I plug it in over night I usually unplug start and go with no warm up time

I bought one and ran tests with it along with the OEM black one and the gray one. It did not impress me and has been in the glove-box since.
Also if thats for the 94 to 96 is there a "new and improved" one for our trucks?

Same as me I have a very short commute to work as well. I also disconnected the EBPV from the pedestal and it has made a huge difference in drivability in the morning. I am still waiting to see if it will translate into better mpg? I am planning on checking for exhaust leaks this weekend as well.

Mine on a switch no control from the pcm so I wouldnt count on it, diesels use more fuel when cold and dont combust near as good until warmed up. Im starting to think mine/ your problem is just the short commute and most of the driving is done when cold
