Cleaning out old fuel in lines question

I bought a 97 f-250 7.3 a few weeks ago and have a question about having bad fuel in the lines. Today I filled the front tank and the rear tank I filled to around 3/4 which had been empty. I drove around 90 miles home using only the front tank. Later I wanted to see if the rear tank worked because I had not used it yet. It ran fine for a mile or so and than starting knocking and stalled out. I assumed it was bad fuel in the lines and I put Diesel Kleen in both tanks but only used the front tank after that. It had a hard time running but eventually smoothed out and runs fine when using the front tank. Should I attempt to run the rear tank or will I damage by injectors doing that? Would my best be be to replace the fuel lines and all the fuel in the tank? Any advice would be appreciated.

If it was your rear tank that you had problems with just the rear tank it could probably be your switching valve. Just a guess. Hope it helps.

I ran diesel over ten years old. Like Red, I think your switching valve is bad or you got a bunch of dirt in the rear tank.

I wouldn't think it's the valve if you switched it and it quit. I'd say to drop the rear tank and clean it if possible and blow out the lines.

It wouldn't hurt to change your fuel filter and clean the fpr screen inside the fuel bowl.
