T18 and Clutch Questions

I have a 1979 F250 with the 300 straight 6 and the 4 speed manual (borg warner T18)
My first question is what kind of fluid do you use in the tranny?

My clutch has been squeaking for a while and it is starting to get on my nerves. I had the actual clutch replaced a few months ago so im thinking it is the linkage. Is there a certian part that wears out?

Thanks for any help.

I would think something like 85w90 gear oil for the trans.
Have a look under the dash at the pedal linkage, look for wear in the pushrod bushing and pedal bushings.
If nothing obvious then spray some WD40 on each bushing in turn until you eliminate the noise. You can then lube it with grease or similar.

Don't forget to check the clutch return spring for squeeks

I greased about everything including the return spring and it didnt seem to help. Some days it is real bad and then others you dont even notice it. As far as the fluid I have heard both 85w90 gear lube and straight 50 weight oil so thats why I asked.

When it comes to putting Oil in your trans...Dont ask for Opinions without doing your own research....these people build them...trust them...call them

Get an old ford manual...you can buy them on Ebay

the manual will not contridict Novak either...click the link
