Hey guys need some help....

Was backing a few weeks ago with 11k trailer, shifted from reverse to park, got out to check clearance and truck just shut off as soon as the driver side door closed.

Then, yesterday, goin really slow down residential driveway grade in 1st gear, got to bottom of hill ans shifted into drive, truck just shut off again.

Both times truck started fine after, no CEL or anything.

Truck is 1997 psd cc 4x4 with chip and turbo back exhaust with 155k miles. Replaced CPS sensor after first incident but it just did it again. Other than the two ind icidents truck runs and pulls fine.

Anybody think it could be she "shift position sensor" on the side of the tranny? Anybody had to replace that piece yet?

 

I think you're on the right track with the shift position sensor. I've never had to replace one, though. Is it a sputtering death or is it as if you had shut the key off?

 

Shuts of like I turned the key off....Put it in park and she fires right back up.
