Trailers Registered in Maine?

Has anyone living in NY had legal problems with a trailer registered in Maine while towing it with a vehicle registered in NY?

Checked with the insurance co. (Nationwide) and it is covered by the truck. Also learned that the comp and collision is only $22.00 for a $5K trailer, so I bought it.

Only concern remaining is with vehicle laws?

Most states will have issues with a trailer being registered in a different state than thte truck pulling it especialy if you own both. Some people do this to try and pay less for tags and taxes. That is what they usually get ya for.

That's what I'm worried about. So I wondered if anybody here has been hassled about that. I saw a thread in the archives with quite a few responses about registering in Maine, so I think several members here have done so.

Anyway, thanks for your replies.

Around here they don't stop trailers much as there are tons. I just pulled a flatbed with a load of hay with the license plate tossed in the bed of my truck. Just behave and they prolly won't give you a second glance. Besides, the truck plate can't really be seen with a trailer hooked up.

I think you are 100% right about behaving. I really don't expect any hassle, and we haven't heard of any here yet.

Thanks,
Wm
