Front Bumper Spacer

I was wondering for those of you out there who put spacers to move your front bumper out to clear the tires, how thick did you have to go?

I have a 2002 F250 with a Sky-Jacker 6" lift and 35's on my truck right now and would like to put 37's on it. I had to cut my old bumper to clear the 35's and 37's (if I remember right) when I tried them but then they rubbed on the rear inner fenders on either side when the wheels were turned each way at full lock.

I had a little mishap with my baby and the insurance company is replacing the front bumper and I was hoping this time I wouldn't have to cut it. I can live with the little rubbing on the inners at the back with the 37's but would like to move the front bumper out to get the clearance. Im going to be replacing the old mounting bolts as they only allow for about 1/2" from what I can see, and I think it may need a bit more.

If someone can let me know how much I need and if you happen to have a pic you can post of your truck that would be amazing!

Thanks in advance

Consider an aftermarket bumper. Very resistant to those mishaps...

there are a few options for spacing it.

1) washers. probably the cheapest, easiest to locate and you can get a hand full to adjust the spacing as you wish.

2) pipe, i've seen a piece of 3/4" or so pipe cut (you'll need 4 pieces right about the same length) to space the bumper out.

depending on how far out you go, you may need longer bolts as well. i think you can space it out about 1.5" before you need new bolts. you can space the bumper out about 2-2.5" before it really noticeable. after 2.5" you'll be able to see a gap on the fenders, and between the grill line and the bumper (at the bottom).

hope that helps out some.

With stock wheels and no lift on my 04 and 35" tires I didn't rub the bumper either. What kind of rim back spacing are you working with? I did rub the springs and some what the the rear of the fender liner but not enough to be a issue.

I remember now I had to cut it when I tried the 37's on it. But yes you are correct the 35's didn't touch it.
