Unhappy 01 Expedition won't drive in gear

Truck was having a hard time engaging into gears and at a stoplight rolled backwards. When I hit the gas it finally lurched forward. Drove straight home and when I tried reversing in front of my house had a really hard time moving in reverse. Tried to check trans fluid but read that fluid expands when engine is warm and levels should not be checked when cold. Today when I tried to drive it wouldn't move. Moves gears fine, no sticking but won't go forward.or backward. Any thoughts or is this most likely a blown transmission?

The first thing to do is check the transmission fluid level. It doesn't matter if the motor is hot or cold. Check it with the engine running.
