Help Identify this piece of metal

Various027.jpg picture by carboy455 - Photobucket

I tore down my motor and found this little disc shaped piece of metal in the lifter valley. It looks like nothing else in there, but does so signs of wear. It also is not flat. Any help would be great.

Oh yeah, One of my lifters must have broke the keeper on the push rod seat and it falls out. Can anyone convince me I need to fix this? because I want to just put it back in I don't see how it could fall out with the push rod installed.

It's been five years since I was in one of these motors. I can't think where it would have came from. I know what it looks from several other engines but not where you found it in this in this engine. Has this engine ever been apart? It may not even belong to this engine.

on that lifter keeper, its main purpose is to keep the lifter in one piece UNTIL its installed. in a perfect world, it should be there, but once everything is assembled, it won't change a thing to not be there

It's a piece of weather balloon. AKA Roswell NM 1947, keep an eye out for black helo's.

I'm with catfish, it doesn't belong where it was and I can't think of where it should go on the engine. It does look like a plug for something like an injection pump or similar.

I checked if it would fit in any of the lifters, also in the lifter with the broken keeper and no success. Its just on of the many mysteries one may find in any motor. I mic'ed the journals today on the crank and they are just under like .001"-.002" but still round so my low end wipeout isn't as bad as thought but the rig will not be making the trip to Oklahoma this year.
