2006 F-250 Good Year?, Any known issues?
I am looking into buying a 2006 F-250 with the 6.0 Diesel in it. I just wanted to ask if anyone had any input, good or bad regarding the year.
I've heard that the 6.0's have head gasket and EGR problems but I've also heard they are kind of hit or miss.
Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

I have an '06 F250 FX4 crew cab with 95k miles. Have had the EGR replaced under warranty at about 80k miles. ABS light has come on a couple times but resets is is still good after a re-start. Battery light just now coming on intermittently so alternator may be dying. Otherwise been a good truck so far. Getting 17 mpg in city if I go real easy and coast to stop lights as much as possible. Get about 11mpg towing 20' enclosed trailer with my buggy and stuff at 70mph.

I just bought a 2005 CC 4x4 in January. It had 73000 miles and a clean oasis report but I still bought the extended warranty due to the very common engine problems. I got about 13 mpg city and 9 mpg towing my 33' fifth wheel. I was very happy with the truck but I will admit that I didn't fully trust it. Well two days ago I just bought a 2011 F350 PSD CC 4x4 Lariat and I gotta say I absolutely love it! On a short 300 mile trip I averaged 18-20.5 mpg highway and almost 17 mpg city. I expect the mileage to go up once the engine breaks in. So why did I trade my 2005 that I just bought two months ago? Well for $200 more a month and an extra year of financing I now have a truck that I feel way more confident in, has TONS of power, and is super fuel efficient. Plus it just looks great.
