EBPV solenoid

ok, we gut the pedastal, remove the backpressure plate, and now, no oil leak. But i'm pondering on the idea of WHY, we leave the EBPV solenoid plug, unplugged? If everything in its way, is gutted, then whats the purpose? Why not plug-ur back in.

Well, if i understand correctly, there have been oiling issues related to the dynamics of oil pressure being allowed to flow through the EBPV piston cavity once it's gutted. The pedestal is designed to maintain a certain oil pressure based on the components originally installed, and without a job to do, oil flow, when the PCM commands the solenoid open, can rob the turbo of oil pressure. I would just do what many (including myself) have done- install a resister across the terminals of the engine harness plug for the EBPV solenoid, and be done with it.

Interesting.....We (Chris-F350-6 and I) gutted mine about two years ago and we left the wire unplugged and taped it up.I have not noticed any problems like that?

I have the pedastal delete on mine and just have the plug wrapped and hanging but have been wanting to do something with it. I know there is a "plug" you can buy (Dieselsite maybe?). What specific resistor would I need to buy? Is there a particular "direction" it needs to be soldered?

Yeah, i just went the cheap route, bought a resistor pack from Radio Shack for $1, folded the ends so it would plug right into the engine harness side of the solenoid connection (NOT the solenoid itself) and then taped it up to keep out the weather. If i get some time i'll cut the connector off, and solder the resistor inline properly. Oh, and resistor direction doesnt matter. Here's a pic of the Radio Shack package, with part number and specs. You could go up to a watt as well, not just the 1/2 watt.
Hope that helps!

Here is a picture of how I folded the ends of the resistor to insert in the plug.
I used the same size resistor when I deleted my wastegate solenoid also.

Makes sense. Think, i'll take away the ?, and just install the resistor.

This is exactly the type of thread with the resistor for the EBPV I was looking for? Roland, it looks like you have a picture of two different resistors which on did you use and what size was it? Are these resistors the same size you all have used on the AIH delete method as well?

not sure about the AIH delete, since its hooked up to a relay. I dont remember or how, you would go about installing a resistor somewhere, but the resistor for the EBPV sensor, is a 470-ohm., 1/2-watt.

The resistor on the left is a one that I tried, in the wastegate solenoid plug, and overheated when I overboosted. I had tried a smaller resistor that was close to the resistance of the WG solenoid coil windings. 2001 Ford F250 4x4 - Wastegate Solenoid delete The one on the right is the 470 ohm 1/2 watt that I ended up using. I used the same 470 ohm resistor in the AIH, WG solenoid, and EPBV solenoid deletes. 2001 Ford F250 4x4 - AIH Code Eliminator

Mueck, i'm not understanding the AIH resistor placement. If i recall, the only thing i removed was the red cable from relay to AIH. What/where, do i install the resisitor, since living in CA, i'm sure it'll flag upon smog check...thaNKS

It goes in line from the post on the relay to the engine ground the ground wire from the AIH was connected to. I am planning on making mine in the next couple of days and can take pictures. I also installed my resister in the EBPV connector and it is working great with no SES light unlike the last time I disconnected it.

the post, that the red cable from the AIH, was hooked to?

?=a resistor, the 470ohm inline with more wire to reach a ground and create an electrical draw.
