I don't know if pushing both joints the same direction at the same time would help or not. This was a long time ago, but as I recall the issue was that the actual cross of the u-joint would contact the inside of the Cardon joint center section and wouldn't allow you to "off center" the center section far enough to get clear of the crosses. Does that make sense?

That's exactly what you need to do. Push each one a little at a time swapping between the two. Be ware, there is a spring and needle bearing in the center that can get away from you if your not watching.

I don't remember having that much trouble taking mine apart.
You can also get the rebuild pieces from advanced auto. Maybe other stores also.

How are those duracrap u joints holding up?

I have since sold the truck, but I still keep in touch with the guy that bought it and so far it sounds like they're working fine.

Well that's good.
I haven't had any good luck with those ones.
The gold series seem to be a little better.

Gold series are sealed.
