I switched out the rectangle mirrors on the 66 for the proper little round mirrors.

And I also pulled the front bumper and painted it Wimbledon White instead of the brighter white that it was.

Two simple but effective improvements.

Here's a before and after.

Next task is to pull of the rear bumper and install the pretty contour bumper that I have for this truck.

I tried removing the hardware holding on the the current bumper but it wasn't budging.

I'll attack it again soon with a cheater bar.

Bumper Update:

I got all situated with my cheater bar and bottle of penetrating oil, and was ready for the task of removing the nasty old rear bumper on my 66 when I discovered, much to my chagrin, that it was welded onto the bottom of the frame rails.

No worries, I dusted off my oxyacetylene torch and cut the sucker off.

Then I mounted up the contour bumper.

I think it's a noticeable improvement. Next is to repaint the FORD letters on the tailgate and then try to rub some life back in the old Sahara Beige paint.

Here's a before and after set of photos.

Safelite Sucks

I have decided to wait until I can replace the glass also. Mine is not broken, but it is pitted.
I install Glass for a living and safelite is a Ripoff. Their glass is poor quality as is their installers. The gaskets are not Safelite fortunately. My cost for the 66 gaskets are less than 50.00. My 66 CS was installed by safelite before I owned it and it leaks and the Glass is de-laminating. Just my 2 cents worth. If you are careful you can do it yourself and save a ton of money. If you have any rock chips in the windshield don't bother re using it as it will probably crack out.

Thought I'd revive this old thread.

I still own this 66 Styleside and have replaced the 240 with a 300 equipped with a Offy intake, 4 barrel carb and split exhaust from a 90's era F150.

Thanks! We've really enjoyed our years with this truck and look forward to many more.
