I have an 01 Excusion with a V-10. I have been chaseing a high idle issue for a while now. Warm idle in gear is about 850 rpm in gear and 1000 rpm in neutral. I dont think it is the IAC valve. I removed and cleaned it and there was absolutly no change. It moved quite freely and worked properly. The idle is also very consitent. No flucuations and the idle is very smooth.
How about a brain storm of all the causes for a high idle and this weekend I will check all of the ideas until I find the solution. (starting with the cheapest of course!). Thank you for all for the sugestions!
I asked the same question a week ago or so, and was told that's somewhat normal for a V10. Mine runs up to about 1700 on start up, hovers about 1200 but settles down to about 800 or so when it gets going.
The 2 valve V10's seem to idle a little high. My 2000 always idled high, but the 2005 (3 valve) that replaced it is a bit lower, idling around 600. My 2003 F350 V10 idles high as well, in the 800-1000 range. My 2003 F550 V10 idles higher than the 2005, but not nearly as high as the 03 F350 (yes, that's 3 V10's currently in the family ).
