I agree but am really looking forward to driving it. The gears work out to 2500 RPM at 72-73 MPH. People will freak out when an old truck keeps up on the freeway. With A/C and the cruise control set.
Damn, I hope I can do that someday soon.

Looks fantastic!

It will all be worth it once you finally get it on the road. And yes, you will get looks of disbelief........I've had drivers nearly run off the road rubbernecking my truck.

Thanks,
My neighbor says I'm building a ship in a bottle. I have to take the front wheels off and use two tire dollies under the control arms to get it in or out. It's right at 8'6" tall and my door opening is 8'. I may replace the front springs with bags and dump the air to drive it in. That's a ways down the road though.

Hi guys,
I'm a little embarrassed that I haven't done much since I bought the tires. I was hoping seeing them everyday would motivate me. It is hot here. That has something to do with it.

How's everyone else doing?

Hot here too, but I am plugging away. Got my hands full with the '47 Dodge truck and the coe. Still working on the box and tailgate and hinges.

Trying to get my '39 Ford coupe ready for the Dream Cruise.

I'll post some pics on my build thread and answer your question on the steps.
Regards, Mark.

I messed around and removed the big "U" shaped radiator support and temporarily hung the A/C condenser and radiator with zip ties. The original grill opening is the exact same size as the replacement '96 F250 aluminum radiator I bought. They both fit great. Now to make up a permanent set of mounting brackets.
I'd love to get it started over the Christmas holiday. I have a couple of weeks off from work then.

Would it hurt to paint the condenser black? I'm not sure I like the look of the aluminum fins behind the grill. The truck will be Wimbledon white. Not sure about the color of the grill yet.

I use flat black rattle can. Seems to go on thinner than the gloss and covers better.

So are you eliminating the big U rad support? Isn't that a structural piece?

Good progress Ken! Even baby steps count. I think tinman52 is correct, the cradle holds it all together.
Got my 9' bed assembled along with some heavy duty hinges. I want to prove Scott wrong that there are no decent pickup boxes on a coe.

Regards, Mark.

Hey Mark, I sure didn't mean to offend or start a fight......sorry if I did.
I appreciate great workmanship whatever the form.
I'm just an old guy stuck in my ways.

Yes, paint the condenser fins black. The grille? I say keep it an off white or the stock, Sungate Ivory. And your air deflectors should black. There needs to be some contrast.

Hey Scott: No offense taken whatsoever. No fight either, I just want your opinion when I finish up the coe, and see if you still don't like pickup version.

Proportion is everything, along with the wheels and tires filling the wheel wells, IMHO.

Keep plugging Ken!!!

Regards, Mark.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to build a new support peice that still bolts to the core support but has the correct mounting spots for the new style parts. The old one is way more than is needed for my application. The aluminum pieces weigh about half of what a copper/brass radiator weighed. I want to get it sealed up nice and tight so all air has to pass thru them. I want to be able to use the A/C without it overheating.

Got all of the rusty bolts cut off. The skirts and running boards are off, finally. My son tacked the mounts to the original frame then welded it up after checking everything was where we wanted them. The mounts are from a 2005 F250
