How well are the coversions holding up?

I looked into a WVO conversion a few years ago when diesel was $5 a gal. Never did it though. Well, now it looks like by this summer it will be up around $4.
How are the older conversions ( 3,4,5 years old) working for you guiys? How many veggie miles have you logged? And what, if any, problems have you had? I'm a little worried about how they do in the long run.

Unrelated, but I had had Lasik surgery on my eyes about 10 years ago, and now am back to wearing glasses., so you can see my concern with my F250.

Thanks, Ron.

uCENTER]Y[/CENTER]Gonna be 250k miles on grease in 2 PSD's soon. No problem. Just took a fellow FTE member to BTS - 2400 miles and used about 5 gals of diesel.

Do it RIGHT thse first time and reap the rewards.

Thumbs up WVO storage/shelf life

How well does filtered WVO last in storage? While I'm building my WVO burning 6.9 f250(..with a 30 Buick body)4x4 rat rod, I want to start collecting and storing up to 500 +gallons of WVO. Do I need to take steps to prevent bacterial growth. Will it store 2+years? While I'm at it, can I mix centrifuge- filtered motor oil with the WVO? >>And of course..Is it street legal?

Sounds like a cool project. DO NOT mix WVO and WMO.

VO is a biocide - bacteria cannot 'grow' in it. However, bacteria can live in water and 'eat' the VO. Storing has lots of variables, I'd say if ya started with a low FFA oil, dewatered and filtered it without adding much heat, oxygen or exposure to copper and carbon steel - then stored it in a cool place out of UV light, you'd prolly be OK. There is a product called VegStable on the market that should further mitigate polymerization - the natural degradation of VO...
