Pedal Box Replacement Question

Pedal Box Replacement Question
Hello. I have a 1994 F150, 4.9L, Manual.
I need to replace the brake/clutch pedal box. I think it's pretty straight forward, but what's the easiest way to disconnect the intermediate steering linkage under the dash? I need to move this out of the way to drop and install the pedal box.
Thanks,
Nec

I don't remember disconnecting the steering linkage when I changed the bushings on my pedal box. Not sure but I don't remember doing it. Getting the box out takes some wiggling, moving, pulling and grunting but it does come out.
I'm curious though, why are you replacing your pedal box? Is it broken? Mine simply needed new bushings so when they came in I removed the pedal box, took it apart and replaced the bushings. When I reinstalled it I also put the heim joint on the clutch rod. I've had no further issues since then.

Ah, I see. Have you installed the new one yet? Curious about whether or not you had to disconnect the steering shaft. It's been a few years but I don't remember doing it as since then I've had quite the bonk on the head so my memory isn't exactly what it used to be. At least not yet although my memory is improving.

I haven't done it yet, but will this week, Tuesday. Steve 83 told me to just take the top bolt off the intermediate link under the dash and push the linkage into the lower half - it telescopes, I believe. So, it shouldn't be too hard once that's out of the way. I'll let you know how it goes.

@Ddaybc completed the pedal box swap this morning. actually, very easy and what a huge difference! Total time - start to finish - about 2 hours, but I was alone and in no rush. The intermediate steering shaft did exactly what Steve 83 said; it slid nicely into firewall once you remove that top nut - super easy and made the pedal box removal fast.
