i would love to have one with a working transmission!

 

External transmission filters and some device to monitor battery life. I would be nice to be able to change a battery because it's due not because it left you stranded. Not all people, my wife included are real plugged into vehicular warning signs.

 

I have my batteries load tested once a year. Especially the battery that's on my Harley-Davidson. Doing that has prevented me from being stranded because of a battery failure. It only had to happen to me once on a Sunday morning at 4:00 a.m. in Texas Panhandle.

 

It had to happen to me the third day after I PCS'd to a base where it snowed right after I arrived and stayed below zero for the next five months.

After getting jumped, I immediately went to the local Sears and spent $250 for their top of the line heavy duty battery guaranteed to start under frigid conditions and never had a problem due to weather since.

 

I would like to see them make a retro truck design. Like with the mustang but make the new truck look and resemble the 73-79 years. That is about the only thing that would make me absolutely have to go out and buy a brand new truck.

 

One of the reason Ford hasn't done that is because others might like a different model. I would rather see a '61 to '66 model and I just know other would like to see a '50 to '56 model which is probably one of the more popular older models. We all saw how long GM’s attempt to do a retro of the early 50’s model pickup lasted. The cost factor for such a low volume vehicles would be cost prohibitive for most of the buying public.

 

Yeah but the same goes for the mustang. They managed to capture the most of the retro. I think the current model looks alittle big/ heavy.

 

Awesome suggjestion! The 73-79 Ford pickups were among the best looking IMO.

 

Yeah they are my fav by far. I love the 56 design but if it's
4wheel drive the 70's are where its at for me.

I am not one to go and sign off on payments for a brand new truck. I like the new ones but really have no desire to but man if it looked like an old dentside I would be at the bank tomorrow.

 

There's a reason why I like the '61-'66 models. This one was originally my dads. Most of you have probably already seen it.

i bought a '63' later, as the price was right.
i do like the 65-68 better. for that model/body style.

 

I bet you mean the 65-66. 67-68 was the newer style that continued to the 72 model year. Just thought you would want to know.....

 

your probably right, as my memory isn't that good for those years. to many other things to occupy my brain... school....sports.. females.....
didn't the 63-64 use the same body as the 65-66.
but with a different steering wheel angle and floor height. i remember a step under the door on my 63 and the 66 didn't have it. also different motors available... my father had a 69 and it seemed the same as the 66.
but as i said above, my memory isn't the best for that time frame.

 

This is interesting thread! I have to agree that the F150's are getting bigger than it need to be. Maybe rebadge current and previous generation into F200.
We want our trucks to be as fuel efficient and easier to drive/maneuver around. I honestly think the next generation of F150 need to go on a diet. It's getting somewhat closer to the SuperDuty.

I totally agree with this quote. I must admit the bigger and heavier F150 is really nice to tow moderate sized travel trailer and haul my family in comfort. When I take the F150 on for a seldom commute drive, I really don't need that much size 80% of the time. I really wish to make my F150 a daily driver year around on the commute, but it's not financially feasible as well as environmental friendly, not to mention about our heavy dependency on foreign oil (this is another debate).

Wishlist:
smaller EB option on entry level engine for daily commute and moderate work truck with slightly smaller body. Make it 25 mpg on average for 4x4 version and 30 mpg for 2x4 version.

Telescoping wheel would be sweet especially for over six footer drivers like myself. Not sure if it's available on any trims in 09-current generation.

Add 120v outlet for some electronic gadgets especially in SuperCrew higher trims. G3/G4 boost signals built-in for steady broadband access at rural/suburb areas, again in SuperCrew higher trims, for our passengers, not the driver.
