what has become of easter?

i work at a walmart store, and i have had to help setup and stock the season aisle, like for christimas and for easter, what has become of these holidays, im especially thinking about easter, im stocking this aisle and theres nothing but candy and easter bunnies and the like, not so much as one cross or anything, if you take away the cross from easter, you have nothing left, why is it that we, meaning we as a whole have denied the cross and the power of it, correct me if im wrong, but Jesus did say "I AM the way the truth and the life, and the only way to get to God"
-John 14:6

easter is not about chocolate or other candy or even about an easter bunny, it is about the death and ressurection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, it makes me almost sick that our nation has seemed to forget or deny that fact.

I can tell you one thing, if it wasnt for Jesus dying on that cross paying the penalty for my sin, i would be absolutley hopeless and lost.

So please, take the time and give Jesus the praise honor and Glory that is due his wonderful Name. not just on easter but everyday 24/7 for eternity

-Nick

Chill brother, you sound like your having a mid-life crisis. Easter is what you want it to be!!! Don't let all the stupid scheist in Wal-mart get to you. Just be thankful you live in a place where there is plenty of opportunity and freedom( If you are in the US). They haven't started taking the cross down in any churches I know of.

Nick.
I agree with you and understand where you are comming from. I think that is is time for this world to go back to the real meaning of of the holidays rather that see how much money can be made.

I`m with you Dennis!! I like that!! And yes I think people go overboard on holidays. Redranger90, my kids don`t believe in santa, the bunny laying eggs, or the halloween gig because I choose to be straightforward and honest with them. It`s a money thing to some people and the market. I have friends that will max out their cards @ x-mas and spend all year trying to pay them off. If they`re lucky. I can`t see that happening here. Don`t get me wrong, I buy them nice gifts. But I don`t go in over my head. When I was a kid we would have freaked if someone strung out lights for anything but x-mas. Now they have `em for Mardi Gras and everything else. It`s funny how things have changed. I reckon that`s the good thing about living free though-- freedom of choice. Later people!!!!

I'm not sure it's Capitalism at work alone, they all seem to take the Christ out of things and leave the merchandising in.

They don't take the Santa out of Christmas, they don't take the Bunny out of Easter, they don't take the devil out of Halloween, The Leprecaun is still in St. Patrick's Day (Ever see St. Patrick?), they left the Turkey in Tanksgiving, ...

See a pattern? The social and human engineers want us all one color, one race, one school, one political party, one everything.

You mean there is no Santa and the Easter Bunny doesn't exist!

Next you're gonna tell me that there's no Tooth Fairy either.

Sorry I didn't elaborate much. My kids don't believe in any of that because I chose to tell them the truth, not just the money deal. They usually get 2 presents, simply because on Christmas we were given the greatest gift ever in Christs birth, and we celebrate by sharing presents. On Christmas we have a birthday cake and sing happy birthday to Jesus. The same type of thing for Easter, and halloween we just skip. Sorry I should have explained this the first time.
