aluminum black diesel

ok, i had a crazy thought that probebly is a stupid one but here goes. we all know that diesels are awsome. the power the fuel econ and the just lplain awsome factor. the onre thing thats not that kool(aid) is the massive weight. my thought is, would an aluninum block diesel work? or am i just crazy?
i didn't get any response in the compitition section so here is the repost!!

I would think for a diesel to have an aluminum block it would have to be huge to hold up to the high forces. The coefficient of thermal expansion on aluminum would limit the functional size of such a monster because it would warp.

oh, that makes sense, now i know why no one has made one yet.are there any other metels that would stand up and still be lighter than cast iron?

why not sleave the cylinders? if you could figure out the warm up cycles to be user friendly i dont see why you couldnt do this.

cummins did it. theres a pic in my diesel mag of a guy picking up a cummins block and head all aluminum. says it ways 178lb
