On a couple occasions the truck has been in regen as I approached the field so I took a small detour to allow it to complete and temperatures to return to normal before I drove in the field.

Certainly there has been enough negative commentary on these forums about the later firmware not giving continuous regen notification. I find it distrubing the Ford has apparently not paid attention to those complaints.
The letter arrived in the mail today. I'll have to ponder the options for alternate high underbody temp monitoring to avoid grass fires, perhaps I need an automatic underbody fire supression system...

If it can prevent damage, I'm all for it.

One good thing is my banks iq will tell when I am in regen. So if I really have to have the flash to maintain warranty I am not giving up the monitoring of the regen...I really don't want to mess with it.

Letter is kinda backing you into a corner though when they put your vin on it.

my letter came yesterday. i wasnt going to have it reflashed but with the warnoing on the letter about ford can deny coverage for not doing it..... dealer said when you come in for service the vin is flagged for the update if you get a letter- if you refuse the re flash then they are required to flag vin for refusal in case future repair for denial..........

Read the wording of the letter carefully. It doesn't say that they will void your warranty if you don't have it flashed. It says that they can (not will) deny warranty coverage for damage that could have been prevented by the new flash. If your brake booster or your HVAC goes out they aren't going to deny coverage since that has nothing to do with the firmware update.

If my brake booster goes out I don't need the warranty (lol), but if that fuel system shoots craps from water in the fuel I'd sure like to have it.

Its funny because I bought a used car from a dealer a year ago. The dealer was talking to me about extended warranties and made the comment "its never the drivetrain that goes bad, its the power window motor or something like that". Ironically I dont think anyone here is worried about power window motors but EVERYONE is worried about the engine.

I called my dealer today to inform of this and he told me that it was postponed due to some software issue. Anyone else hear of this. If not I will call another dealer about the reflash.
