Truck dies when turning steering wheel
#31
gah....I'm starting to hate this thing.
Checked wires...they all looked fine.
So, at this point in time, the truck will do three things:
1. Run fine. Super fine.
2. Stall for no reason. Instantly cut out if I'm sitting at a red light, or if I'm at speed and let my foot off the gas. Not all the time mind you, just sometimes.
3. ....and recent discovery since I drive like grandma. The truck does the same thing when I floor it and the RPM's reach the higher end of the spectrum. I know I'm not hitting the rev limiter because it would not act like this with the old motor.
I'm thinking of starting at the throttle position sensor. What do you guys think?

Glad to hear that it's all good now.
If the shop gave you the old sensor you should examine it closely to see if any wires appear pinched ot broken internally. Not to fix blame on anyone but, for the knowledge of the group here at FTE. The installer may have accidently damaged the wires while doing the R&R and just transferred the sensor to the new engine without noticing a potential problem. You might also show whatever is found to the installer so he might be a little more careful the next time. If it's the same shop they should only charge you for the sensor.
Have a great day and happy motoring.

What mechanic should i take my truck to?
I have a 1986 Ford Bronco I have a smillar issue. It turns off when fully turning right or left mostly when parking. As I turn it ither direction it will make a very loud skreeching sound, or shut off.
should i take it to a steering wheel specialist or someplace to clean and replace the IAC valves?
