OT: 49 Indian motorcycle
I know that it's not a Ford truck, but it's a 49. From what I've gathered, it's an Indian 249 Scout.
This motorcycle is coming up for auction on Tuesday and I'd like to buy it if the price is right. However, there's not a lot of history known about it. It's missing the exhaust pipe, headlight, brake lever and needs wiring. I'm assuming that the whole motorcycle needs to be rebuilt. It's all original, however, including Indian brand tires. The fuel tank is perfect, no damage. The rear fender is slightly chewed up in the rear bottom, but nothing major. The seat is still intact. The front fender is good. Frame didn't appear to have any cracks.
Since I'm not into motorcycles, I figured that someone here might be able to help me out. What would a bike in this condition be worth on the market?
Thanks.

Go for the real thing, the V-twins are much better bikes. Many back in the day thought they were better than Harleys. They're going cheap these days.
(From Wiki: "In 1945, a group headed by Ralph B. Rogers purchased a controlling interest of the company.[21] On November 1, 1945, duPont formally turned the operations of Indian over to Rogers.[7]
Under Rogers' control, Indian discontinued the Scout and began to manufacture lightweight motorcycles such as the 149 Arrow, the Super Scout 249, both introduced in 1949, and the 250 Warrior, introduced in 1950.[22] These bikes suffered from poor quality and a lack of development. Production of traditional Indians was extremely limited in 1949, and no 1949 Chiefs are known to exist. Manufacture of all products was halted in 1953."

That doesn't include the 12% buyer's premium and a 9.25% tax that will need to be paid to the DMV.
I bought the old truck lights, the manual truck turn signals, the old porcelain restroom signs and the San Jose street signs.
