Fuel leak 97 f450 7.3

I have a 97 f450 2wd 7.3. I took it in to get some tires and oil change and when they rolled it out of there shop I noticed it was leaking something. It sat running for about 2/3 min and in that time a puddle of fuel about the size of a basketball had collected on the ground. We found that it was puddling on top of the motor and running down onto the ground. The mech. told me that the fuel regulator valve was leaking and pointed to a silver device on the top rear of the motor. I've had the truck for about a year with NO LEAKS OF ANY KIND. Anybody have any ideas what these guys might have messed up. To me it looks like maybe someone leaned on a fuel line or something and broke it?????
thanks

Anyone else know what/where the fuel regulator on the rear of the motor this mechanic is talking about is?

If I were you, I'd clean up the valley a little and see if you can find the leak. Could be fuel lines, fuel bowl, fuel pump, etc.

Any way you can snap a pic of this fuel regulator that the mech was pointing to?

These engines don't have a regulator itself in the back ofthe motor, it's on the fuel bowl smack dab in the middle of the valley, there's 2 fuel lines in the very front running to the bowl, a mechanical pump in the bellows of the valley of death immediately behind the fuel bowl and a few lines that are real short that run in between the pump and bowl which do have a tendency to crack and leak. Lastly there is a brass banjo nut that goes in the back of tue fuel pump that joins the 2 lines that feed the back of the head. They can leak by the fittings but it's more of a gradual if anything kind of leak.

Ya thats the area its leaking in. I said the back of the motor but its on the top rear. This was not a gradual thing. I took it in with no prob and when I got it back it was runnin like a river. I left it at there shop (didnt want to drive it like that) So im gonna go there this morning and check it out.
And when I figure out how to post pics I will.
Thanks

here is what the told me was the fuel reg. valve and that it was leaking.
now they are tellin me its an o-ring on a fuel line that goes into the filter housing.
Looks a little wet up there but once agin i had no leakes before i took it into them.
They said they gonna fix it a no cost, so i think they found out there guy did something.

thats the fuel pump. if its leaking from the small hole in the base (use a mirror) then the mechanic couldnt have caused that. its probably coincidence. and you need a fuel pump
