New Eco

I had been checking in for a while (Dec) trying to make a decision on which engine to get. After seeing everyones comments and alot of reading, I ordered an eco-boost in January. Just got the truck Thursday. After seeing the comments about delays, I was thinking April, but suprise. As others stated the power is so smooth it is deceiving how quick it is. I ordered an XLT 4x4 Supercab 145wb with the 3.55 rear. I sold my old truck, an 03 Silverado Crewcab in December which i liked, but the gas milage was killing me. It was a long winter without a truck. This new truck is amazing. One thing I don't get is the open space in front of the intercooler. If they don't come out with a grate or something to put in front of it, I am going to make one. Otherwise very happy.

The question I get asked repeatedly is "why would you buy a brand new motor when no one really knows how it will perform and what it will cost to fix?"

My only response has been to tell them to watch the videos.

Any ideas?

I'm a newbie here. Just took purchase of a 2011 4x4 F-150 XLT Black Supercrew Ecoboost about 10 days ago. I had a 5.0 with the same package as well for a few days test driving it. Absolutely loving the truck so far!

Any one have problems with the EB yet? Not sure what I am going to purchase when I need another truck. Just weighing out the options between the 6.0 power stroke and the F150 with the EB. Thanks

Picked up my 2011 XLT 4x4 Screw 6.5box with max trailer tow 12 days ago! This truck is awsome! I'm averaging 17-17.5 mpg mixed highway and city. Traded in my 07 Suburban LTZ for this truck and have no regrets. The quiet smooth power of this engine along with the six speed transmission is light years ahead of that pushrod Chevy!

Drove mine from Fort Pierce, Fl to Pittsburgh, Pa this past week! Averaged between 20 and 24 mpg, mostly in the 22 range. She never missed a beat, even way up in the Blue ridge mountains, what an awesome truck! 1100 miles each way and I couldn't have been more comfortable in a Lincoln! Needless to say I am extremely pleased with this truck thus far!

This is the first engine that has come out in over a decade that I have been excited about. I wonder if the engine will be made available with a stand alone computer for the aftermarket (like GM does with the Ramjet engines). I want one for a project car. It would be really cool to put one of these in a 49 Mercury or (GASP!!) a 67 Chevy Nova. It would be really cool in the Nova (or a Falcon) because it would be light, contributing to good handling, it would be able to pull tall final drive gears in a light car like that, allowing excellent fuel economy, and it would spank almost anything V8 powered short of a Cobra. I am not a fan of new trucks (from anyone, Ford, GM, Dodge) but I am definitely a fan of this new engine!

Newbie EB

Just got our F150 EB Screw this weekend. Absolutely loving it so far.

I'm *itching* to play with the computer and turbos. But this is the wife's daily driver, so maybe I need a second?
