Love letter from the County.

Love letter from the County.
I got a letter Saturday from the County, I guess some one decided that my Cummins was smoking too much for them. I probably smoked a Prius or some tree hugger. I was surprised too since I only drove the truck for like 2 days that week, and that was the first time in almost a month that I had driven it. (my f450 was in the shop getting the trans rebuilt.)
What I found interesting is that I have had the chip turned off for a while. It just has the Superchips lowest programming on it so I can have the speedo read right.

I have read the Texas law, it makes a whole lot more sense then the crap they have here. In Texas it says it can't smoke for more then 10 seconds, under normal driving. So a puff while starting out or changing gears or such. I know this because I found that while looking for the actual law that Az has here. I didn't find it but frankly I don't care.
If they keep this crap up I will register it up at our ranch in another county and save money on registration costs and emission tests @$28.00 a year.
I am still wondering if the nerd at the County ever figured out what my license plate means.

Of course, California has such a law as well. Other than the "tattle tale" aspect , I've got no problem with it. Living in an area that's always been known for having poor air quality I can appreciate how much better it's gotten in the last 30 years, and there's no doubt that a big part of that is due to emissions regulation.
If a few idiots didn't run around putting clouds of soot in the air and smoking out intersections at every opportunity (please understand that I'm not saying that's what you did) we probably wouldn't have these "tattle tale" provisions relating to emissions laws. It should be up to law enforcement only...if they see you doing it, you get written up.
As usual, the carelessness and irresponsibility of a few has caused big brother to come down on the many.

Sometimes people need to be caught more often than they are
Let's just say I am very close to at least one person who oftentimes operates a motor
vehicle on the public streets and highways in a fashion where (s)he needs to be caught
by the cops but isn't. IMHO the more people who see this and report it, the better.

Not to be argumentative but if police aren't catching your smoky offender......you need more or better cops, not self appointed citizen deputies.
