truck shakes and vibrates
#18
I have brand new plugs and wires. Gunna put in a new cap and rotor. And a new coil and see if that helps. The u joints were fine. I also have brand new ball joints, tie rods, shocks and suspension. Also just had a alignment done about 3 weeks ago. So im thinkin its motor related. Maybe broken motor mount?

easy way to check motor mounts for me is to put the truck in gear with the hood up foot on the brake and give it some gas, look under the hood and above the cowl....engines will flex the mounts but bad mounts will let the engine rock. throw it in reverse and repeat. that will check the other side. how does the engine sound while its shaking?

automatics are beyond me, but visually it may look fine but the internal lock up bit is what they are suggesting is going bad.
if it sounds like it has a miss look into that. check your timing and double check all the basics. we have all read those words and scoffed at them but at some point we have all caught ourselves over looking them. if you have a scanner maybe try to see if its throwing any codes even if the check engine light isnt on. i spent a winter chasing problems with a 302 in an 86 once. bummed a scanner off a buddy and it helped alot.
