seals on a 1986 dana 60 solid front end

This next weekend i plan to buy a 1986 f350 4x4 4door 460 4 speed dana 60 solid front axle.I drove and checked it out including the 4 wheel drive {awsome by the way}.But it must be low geared as all get out because top speed is around 55-60.My real question is how hard is it to put those axle seals in the housing cause it has some axle fluid behind the wheels. And any other input you have on these trucks. Thanks

Great trucks, however that wouldn't of had a dana 60 in it stock. I think they started that in like 86.5 or maybe even like 89+ I can't recall exactly. My gut assumption is that it isn't stock. You will have 4.10 gears I would bet, mine does anyway with the same combination. Just enjoy the fact that you can swap a 5spd with od trans or a gear splitter and it will be a beast. You will love 4.10s when you hit and hill with a trailer and at the least stay at the same mpg if not accelerate up the hill.
