If not i am looking at $1495 for a new one. and that means dumplin is going to be down for at least another 6 months.i am looking at it like this either i will have a fresh rebuilt tranny or a new tranny. anyways guys can yall offer any suggestions. the tranny in question is a 4r70w.

How are your mechanical skills? You could rebuild it yourself for a lot less. If dumplin is running but just needing a tranny, You can find them on ebay and craigslist. I actually met a guy down at Tattoo charlies about 5 years ago to pick up a 4r70w. I bought it from him off ebay and just met up to save shipping

Have you checked some of the salvage yards in the area? I'm sure if nothing else, you could find a used one to get you by till you get yours rebuilt.

actually i had not thought of that. So i looked before i replied and there is 3 for 500 dollars and one has less than 100,000 miles. or in georgetown there is a two trannys with 48,000 and 63,000 orginal miles for 750. seems like one of those will be my best bet. then i am going to keep my tranny and have it rebuilt later. thanks you guys. maybe one day me and dumplin will get to a kentucky chapter meeting, I just had surgery in januaray and i am just now getting to were i am walking around again.
