Empty HPOP Res.

So the new motor was running great but the truck has been parked for about a week and now it won't start. It is a complete rebuilt motor with a adrenaline pump. I cranked it and it fired and ran for about a second or two then died. Tried cranking it several times after and no start. I opened up the res and stuck a 6" extension inside and came up dry. The dipstick is showing 1-2 quarts high.
What do I need to do to fix this?
I know there is a anti drain back valve thing because it is a 95 but I told Bob that and am prety sure I got a HPOP for a 95. How do I fix the drain back problem and do I have to pull the motor again?
The 3/8s plug is still tight in the valley behind the HPOP and I remember putting the ball bearing and spring in their did I forget something else. The truck has about 400 miles on the new motor so I am pretty sure the air is all out.

I'd call bob just to make sure on the pump. You could pull the oil filter and see if the little check valve deal is in there yet.

I'd verify the right pump too. The anti drainback valve is on 94 and 95 pumps and there is no way for the stock timing cover and reservoir to hold oil without it. Unless you mod it or change it all to 97 parts. Like I'm doing.

I don't remember if the pump had the check ball. Hey 427 Fordman is that picture of the antidrain back or is that just where the check ball will be?

If that has fallen out it will cause the hpop to drain, it happens more common on the 94/95 models like yours.

Ok would it be easier to pull that 3/8 plug in the valley and stick a magnet down there to see if the ball and spring are in there? Also what holds the ball in place from falling?

The pics I put up are from the oil filter housing. You need to pull the filter and see if the pieces in the one pic came out.

If that is there, I'd call bob next, or first if you can get ahold of him today.

Waiting to hear back from Bob. What keeps everything from falling further down? If I remember right from building the motor the ball wouldn't go past the timing cover.

Ok so I made some progress I manually filled the res, cranked for 10-15 sec and it fired up then died. Then cranked it for 15-20 seconds and it fired up. Oil presure is good actually a little high. So now what would be your guy's vote?

Check the resevoir to see if it goes down. There is still the reason it drained. See what bob says, then pull the oil filter if needed.
