fuel pump

Hello every one Im new at this.so bare with me . i have a 92 f150 4.9L and it runs real bad .i have found that the fuel pump runs all the time and when it starts. it will not reve up and the idle hunts all the time.i have found that if i pull the ecm fuse and flsh the ecm enough times it will run the fel pump for the 8 sec. and stop scan and no codes .and the truck runs great till i shut it of and then i have to start all over again. My ? is the 8 sec cycle comes from the ecm.and do i have to rplace it.

Well the fuel pump is suppose to run all the time the engine is running or cranking.
If you just turn on the key and do not start the engine then the pump should come on and run for one second and quit.
If it runs for different time periods than one second when just turn on the key then it does sound like your computer is going bad.

You should be able to get one from any auto parts store.
Just take the long number off the plug of the computer that start E or F depending on the year with you when you get.

You will not be able to get one from a Ford dealer.
But you should be able to order one from a auto part store like O'Reilly Auto Parts.

What is the number on the unit or the calibration number on the door.
With the calibration number the part number for it can be looked up.
