83 F350 6.9 L IDI Injector Lines leaking on One Side.
Hi,
I have a fuel leak and it's dripping on the valve covers on the left side(facing rear), - a mechanic told me it was the "fuel rail" but I think it should be called the fuel lines ,whatever- maybe its all the same. Anyway I think they are tubes with connectors and I have an image that looks like the deal, but can't attach the file, or I don't know how.
It looks like one or two were cobbed together with rubber and band clamps on the last tube towards the front. I am doing this from memory because its ungodly cold here in North Dakota and I yanked my shoulder yesterday trying to look into it. Tomorrow I will go out and start it and be able to identify it better but it seems that there are a bunch of smaller tubes connected - what I am not sure of is if all the metal connectors are there. I am concerned because the parts are pretty expensive and I need to conserve on bucks as I am disabled. Also since the mechanic called this a "fuel rail" I am puzzled because it's not one piece - I think. I may also need special tools. Does anyone know about this assembly and if a partial repair can be done? Anyone familiar with the standard equipment I am referring to? It's an 83 F350 6.9 IDI. I am travelling 2200 miles back east and really need to get this in shape within 5 weeks. Thank you. Joe

I believe you are talking about the fuel return lines. Short lines between the injectors with clamps at each end of the short lines.
There are kits ranging from $20-$79 that have all the parts you need. Injector install kit is the normal name. The O rings in the cheap kits do not seem to last long and start leaking again.
