I own a 1991 Ranger STX. The tag on the front axle said 3 73 F07A B0 610365-1. Are the first 3 digits the axle gearing? I know the next 6 are the manufacture dates and stuff. I just want to know what the gearing is.

Yes. There should be a tag an the rear differential as well that will give the ratio and whether it an open or limited slip differential.

Thanks man. I already know the rear is an open diff (or the limited slip is shot) because I stuck the gas down to the rugs going around a corner and it just spun one tire (it was pretty wet out).
