X2 what Jim said. I don't drain reservoir either, never have. Just have one lubed up and ready to go in. Remove one and pop another one back in real quick.
After you have done all 8 torque the injectors down and reinstall the oil spouts.
I usually remove glow plugs just to be sure and spin the engine over. Just a little insurance and it eases my mind.

Thanks for all the info guys! This is great! I think I feel ready to jump into it!

I probably won't have time to start until next week. I can hardly wait...

Yeah, I guess u could move fast enough to swap them real quick like that. Guess I'm always too busy talking or something. Lol. You will still need to remove the GPs and crank the engine to get what did fall in the cylinders out.

I got them in! My Dad helped me, it was alot easier with an extra set of hands... I then pulled the GPs and spun it over several times by hand and practically nothing came out, so I guess not much got in the cylinders. I will be putting on the plenums tommorow, along with the turbo etc. I am also replacing the fuel pump.(don't have time or funds for electric fuel now) I guess I'll be ok with a stock fuel system for now.

Hopefully I will hear it run tommorow!

Nice gauges Ian, may I ask where you got the triple pod and gauges? Also, what order do you have your gauges in top to bottom? Is it a pita to install?

Thanks -

Thanks! I actually got the gauges out of a parts truck, they were about one month old... So I can't tell you were to get them (Auto Zoo sells them.....) among many other more desirable vendors I need to talk to Clay at Riffraff because I need some for customers trucks, so that's who I would reccomend if you are looking.

They are Auto Meter Ultra lites, Bottom is pyro, then boost and oil pressure on top. thye pod is a Glow shift brand pod. I'll try to get a bigger pic for you, and no, they aren't bad to install.

Ian I'm finding it disturbing that not much oil came out of the cylinders. Might want to double check on that before you start it up. Hydro locking the engine isn't a good thing.

I know what you mean.... Almost nothing came out, but I did the quickie method pull one out, drop the new one right in. I then pulled all eight GPs, and spun the motor over by hand 4-5 times, and It spun easy, just like it should. I will spin it over again before I put the GPs back in.
