What weight oil do you suggest. I do need to change the oil as it is time, and have been running 15w-40.

check hpop this am. and it had plenty of oil.

When I went to crank this a.m. she kept winding and acted like it wanted to fire then stopped after a couple of seconds when holding the key. Turned the key off, back on, waited on WTS light and tried again. She turned and acted like she wanted to fire but again did not. I did the same thing a third time and ti finally fired up. White smoke everywhere (tons of it). Thinking IDM or fuel pump possibly - not sure tho.

You need to make sure the glow plugs are actually turning ON.

Watch the dash volt meter when you turn the key ON but no crank and it should drop well below normal, indicating the glow plugs are drawing power.

Do you hear the GPR click when turning the key ON?

The GPR did click in over lunch, so I am assuming that it did this morning too. I have not had a chance to change the oil yet. Planning on doing that tonight when I get off.

Okay sorry I have not said anything in a couple of days. I changed the oil and it did not have any assistance in the start up. I did check the pressure from the schrader valve saturday and was getting 18 psi...I know this should be around 50-60 - so I replaced the fuel pump. Went to crank, and bam she fired right up... but have fuel leak now! urg...

Cleaned the valley and took some baby powder and coated the valley to find the leak. It is coming from the bottom of the fuel pressure regulator where the lines comes up from the bottom of the fuel bowl and where the fuel in water sensor is. I took the fuel in water sensor out and noticed that the housing is cracked. Wierd... Anyways, I am going to replace the regulator which should cure the leak. And oh yeh, the screen on the regulator, she was all gummed up and nasty.

Any ideas of where to get a new regulator. I called the Ford store this morning and the parts man is an idiot there. He said that I have to buy the fuel bowl and regulator together. I know this is not true as they are 2 separate parts. I believe the part number for the regulator is f5tz-9c958-A or F81Z-9B249-BB. Not sure because I see it listed 2 different places with same name but different part #.

Thanks guys.

Paul

I called the junk yard in rock hill and they don't have a 7.3 vehicle lying around. Calling the one in Charlotte this after noon. The crack is in the threads where the sensor plugs in. Looked at the sensor and it seem fine. But it is definately cracked through the threads and housing.

Not sure how to post a pic - but I have a pic of where it is cracked. If you give me your email I will send it to you.
