lol, I did in fact replace the timing set, yes. The stocker was the nylon gear type and I didnt trust it.

Its hard to keep my foot out of it as its got such nice smooth power for such a heavy beast (landfill scale said Im just over 5200), but I can watch the gas gauge move.

Those shards of nylon have a nasty habit of clogging your oil pickup.

So thats what I dug out of the pickup screen? I wondered what that stuff was.

on my 68 miles round trip to town yesterday the "hot" oil pressure is around 40 at idle and 75 at cruise speeds. Maybe just a little on the high side but I dont think that will hurt anything do you? The new seals seem to be holding fine.

My only regret is not pulling the intake manifold and resealing the front seal behind the dizzy. As gunked up as it was before it was impossible to tell if it was leaking and now all cleaned up it obviously is. Its just a weep but its annoyingly making the fresh paint job not as pretty. I had hoped all the gunk on the motor in the first place was from some VC gaskets that had obviously been replaced and someone used some household silicone to try to get a seal, then proceeded to overtorque them as well.

Got the ammeter wired up, it works great. I like having an ammeter and a voltmeter together. Diagnostically the combination works good for pinpointing issues. With that final piece I routed and tied up all the connection to the triple gauge pack and tucked, hid or loomed as much as I could.

During that process I also pull the aftermarket cruise control unit and relocated it and cleaned up the wiring for it a little, then reinstalled it up above the e-brake. This provides better access to it for tuning it. There are several settings for it including low speed threshhold and sensitivity. I put an inline fuse on the circuit as well just for peace of mind.

I also painted the door panels using some fairly expensive OEM colored plastic dye/paint. The color match is fantastic! The door panels more than anything in the interior faded differently than everything else and were a much darker tan (oddly they would fade darker....but meh). This was the final piece for the interior that needed done.

Sorry no pictures today...camera batteries were dead when I went to use it and said screw it.

Nice

I'm in Corvallis and have just bought a '89 F250 (139k miles) with a 351W in it to tow a 2 horse trailer..To me the thing pulls like a freight train.

It had cracked manifolds and I just put headers on it with home made copper sheet gaskets.

Anyway I paid $1400 has almost new tirs and I thought that was a screaming deal...Your $500 truck with a 460 blows that out of the water.

A great find, hopefully my motor won't need any work..

I must say that is one impressivley nice looking truck. Best buy ever for 500 bucks. The thing is just spotless looking. Im highly jealous. That 460 runs smooth as can be. Id love to have that clean of a truck. Brings back memories of seeing those trucks brand new pulling huge trailors at the county fair.

That video was a promo vid for the for sale advert for it. I sold that truck because of the gas mileage and got myself a 98 explorer XLT. I obviously dont have the power but I doubled my fuel mileage, AND, the great thing is I picked up the explorer for $500 as well!

Some guy in Corvallis bought it and Ive yet to see it around town.
