AutoEnginuity cylinder contribution test

I recently purchased AE, so I'm not sure about the "upgraded connector". I can tell you it worked very well for finding bad injectors. Mine will do the power balance test, but I found that being able to turn off injector one at a time while it's running to be the most useful. Started out with a code for the #2 cylinder, turning of #2 while running made no difference. Turning off #1 didn't either. Changed #2 and tested again and #1 had a power balance code. Changed #1 injector, problem solved. The power balance test showed an RPM increase on the #1 cylinder. I suspect it was dripping excess fuel into the cylinder, and I did have a lot of white smoke until that injector was changed.
I'm not sure if I have answered your question or not, as I'm not sure if I have the old or new connector (I purchased it in Jan of this year), but either way, it allowed me to diagnose 2 injector problems and pin point which injectors were bad. So in my opinion, it works very well, and it was worth every penny I paid for it.

I have also read that when one injector fails, the rest wont be to far behind it. The power balance test also showed a slight RPM increase in the #8 cylinder. But turning that injector off with the engine running made a big difference in the way it ran. It will be interesting to see if #8 is the next injector to fail. The truck is an 04 with a 6.0 in it. I did this test on a friends 06 and the line was flat. If #8 is the next one to fail, that would tell me the power balance test is a good indication of which injectors are on their way out. Only time will tell.

Bill, you should have a new connector. I think it is labeled with Proline. Mine has AutoEnginuity only. I called them and was told I would need a newer conector.
Sounds like it will be worth the money. It is around $100 for me to upgrade. Had mine for over a year now. Helps that 3 of us may be splitting th cost.
I have at least one injector suffering from stiction, maybe more, and an intermittent miss when warmed up. I was planning/ hoping to just replacethem all, but after a rebuilt trans and fuel pump and blue spring and.........
