The 06 and 07 both have the later version of the 6.0 diesel. The early 6.0 (03-04 ~05) was known to be problematic but the later ones have a pretty good track record. Keep up with maintenance and I think you'll be happy, my suggestion is get one and get the 200k mile warranty, always to be on the safe side incase an injector or something else goes awry
If you plan on getting more power out of it you'll have to upgrade some things, but in my experience with it you wont need more power out of it unless its more for fun.

6.0 diesel
BE very carefull. Some 6.0 have had lots of problems. If you get one that was chipped you could be in for some major down time. The 6.0 has bad rap for a reason, Some would say it is deserved. Talk to diesel mechanic or a service writer to get the truth . Also the maintanice is MUCH higher then your current ride. You can't let it sit, You can not let it idle to much. The list is long Do your research before you buy!
Get the longest warrenty you can on a 6.0.
I fell sorry for the person that has my old 6.0, and it was never chipped.

head gasket issue usually comes to play when a tunner is added -result of 4 bolt per cylinder ARP headstuds help with that-
the maintenance on our diesels may cost a little more because it takes a little more oil, but thats really about it and were up to about 150k miles on both 06 6.0s. They need to idle and warm up when its cold before you drive them, and we have done. I think they both need new glow plug relays (cheap and easy) and they both are due for new egr valves again not such a big deal
both are work trucks

egr gets coked up on long idles--in conjunction---i agree with the warranty--just WATCH which one you get--a lot of these aftermarket warrantys are not worth a crap!!
private owner unit or a Ford dealer would be my choices to look--if ya find one-ask for an oasis report to get the full WARRANTY history on yer potential new whip!!

the 6.4's claim to fame is poor fuel economy & a poor radiator design--and on the 6.0 just how much idle time ya need-cold starts?, i would wait till the temp gauge moves and then ease on down the road-and now and then when she is hot-smack her like she likes it-that will help on the egr coking for sure-stay on top of the fuel filters and oil changes etc.!
ps. the radiator aint covered on the 5/100 either!! just the 3/36 on the 6.4
