What fluids should I use?

Going to change the transmission and rear differential fluid on my '92 F150. What types of fluids should I use? It has a 3.55 non-LS diff. and AOD transmission.

For the AOD you need Dexron / Mercon. I use Valvoline Max Life in mine. For the rear end you need 80w90 gear oil. I use Valvoline Durablend, but you can use any gear oil. Since its non LS don't worry about the LS additive.

If you just dropping the pan and changing the filter, you'll need about 4.5 quarts for the transmisison. Are you draining the torque convertor too? If so you will need considerably more fluid. I can't remember how much.

As for the transmission pan gasket, make sure you get the nice soft rubber one or you may have leaks. I never thought I would say this about FelPro, but don't get their stiff gasket, it doesn't seal well. I like the one that comes in the Pro King filter/gasket kit from Advance. Thats what I have been using. Next time I'm going to use a Motorcraft filter and a fancy Moroso reusable gasket from Summit.
