New to the site
I would like to introduce myself as I am a new member here. My name is Bill, I'm from Washington State and I just bought a 62 Ford f100.
I have owned ford trucks all my life. (I currently own a 92 f250 with a 460 in it) I am also a Chevy fan as well (Please dont throw bottles) My daily driver is a 2003 Pontaic Grand Am and then I also have a 78 Z28 Camaro that I built up and have almost finished restoring.
I absolutely know nothing about these old ford pickups. All I know is that is has a 10 bolt rear, a 3 on the tree(broken) and a 262 inline 6 that the truck came with according to the vin tag. From what I HAVE read, the 262 only came in the f600 and bigger trucks, and not in the f100, so im thinking that it might be a rare option.
I already have the bed off and am about to pull the engine. The entire truck is being disassembled and im going to have ti soda blasted. One question I have though, is where can I find a wiring diagram for this truck?

Welcome to the FTE, I also have a 62 f100 live down in Oregon. Would love to see some pictures of your truck. Your VIN should look something like this F10BRXXXXXX. Did you get the information off of the glove box tag or off of the frame? most would have come with either the 223 "J" or the 292 "C" codes. If you have the waranty tag on the glove box post up the codes and it will be decoded for you. Don't forget to join the Washington chapter. Have a 79 Camaro Berlinetta sitting in the driveway thats my sons, stock 350/350.

Welcome, I live in Washington State as well, and own a 62 F100 Unibody with a 262 straight six. Mine has the 4 speed manual tranny. Fourth of the VIN will be a "B". Most decoders omit this designation for the light trucks although it was an option albeit a somewhat rare one.

All that jazz is...is FoMoCo advertising hyperbole to sell an optional engine, because the 262 was introduced in 1961...for F100/250 2WD/4WD's and F350/600's.
