I've had a straight pipe on my 351m for at least 4 years. The cops don't bother me and my born-and-raised-in-the-city wife likes the sound too.

The windows are louder than the exhaust sound in the cab anyway.

MikePacey is starting off with a positive reputation.
Well I can tell you from personal experience with driving a lot of these trucks and owning a 351M now, if you've still got the manifolds and stock piping don't straight pipe it. It sounds like a rotted out farm tractor at idle and cruise and even though it's loud when you get on it it sounds metalicy. Glasspacks will give you a rumble at idle and will sound pretty good cruising and getting on it, but if it was me I'd do like I did and get Thrush Welded mufflers. About 50-60 bucks for 2, gives a nice deep rumble at idle, rumbles cruising but there's no drone and when you get on OH BOY! Sex in the form of a muffler
