Buying a 94 7.3 idi

I am looking at a 94 7.3 turbo idi w/ 162,000. I am concerned about cavitation. I read an article that said it is a real problem. Cyl. begin leaking around 150,000 if not treated with SCSs. I am going to test the coolant and hope it is OK. My only concern is the time it eas not protected.

Any info? Thankx Desil Jim

I am not sure about that, but the IDI's are not my thing.. you may want to post over in the Pre-94.5 IDI section... some helpful fellows there!

ALL diesel engines must be treated to guard against cavitation.
none of them are exempt from cylinder wall attack.it should be well studied by all diesel owners.
for diesel equipped trucks, this means starting with the 6.9l to the 6.7l.
