Or...somewhat false. The sales person did use the word "ever" in that statement. We all know...the 6.2L is not (at least right now) the most powerful gas engine in a F250 ever.

going strictly by horsepower doesnt the 6.2 have 385 and the 6.8v10 have 362 and no stock 460 ever came close to that in an f250 correct?

At 385hp, the 6.2L IS technically the most powerful gas engine ever put into an F250 from the factory. The 3v V10 Triton only made 362hp.

Where the V10 wins, is in torque, not power.

457ft-lbs for the Triton vs.405ft-lbs for the Boss

With that said, the 6.2L is at the beginning of its life cycle. The early V10 Triton made 310hp/425ft-lbs tq. Who knows what the 6.2L will put out once it has been around for 5+ years.

And I think the '99 V10's only had 275hp, didn't they?

My 2 cents- I previously managed a local NAPA Auto parts store. I called Valvoline tech line about 5w-20 and was told that if it is not full synthetic, it is a blend. To make it to the specs they all make it that way. I use the NAPA branded oil (which is made by Valvoline) and have gotten along well. Also, I only trust Wix (and NAPA Gold ) Filters. After seeing several brands cut open, the difference is obvious! just my opinion!

[quote=biz4two;11540523]I agree to a certain degree about some FORD sales folk. I was out test driving 2012 SD's over the weekend. A sales person told me straight up...that it was not possible to get a 6.2L with the 2-tone paint in Lariat trim. I did NOT challenge him on it...but knew he was completely wrong! eeek!

I recently bought a 2012 F250 Lariat two tone copper with Gold trim! This does have the 6.2 in it and I love it. You can get one - just need to hunt!

Back to the main topic of the thread, Oil changes. If you guys are hauling with your 6.2's, which is what I do with the four SD's I own, I would recommend that you change the oil and filter every 3500 miles max. Cheap insurance, imho to make it last. Not sure about 6.2L yet but can tell you from experiance that the 5.4 3v just wont take oil changes every 5k and last you very long.

These new crop of engines really are capable of going more than the usual 3k Mike's between changes. I don't have manual on hand but I believe my f150 is rated for 10k and my superbly is rated for 7.5k between changes. I always just change both at 5k and I feel like that is being plenty cautious

In the past I have done a change every 5k or once a year, since I only put about 5k per year on the truck. I let the dealer do the first change at 3k (free) and then when I reach 5k I am going to switch to full synthetic.

the stealer I bought my F 250 from does oil changes for me for $17 and change.

For that I just cannot see driving to Walley's, crawling around under the truck and then disposing of the used oil.

6.2

Just bought a new Ford f250 with the 6.2,,,plan on using Motorcraft 5-20 and the Motorcraft oil filters,,,believe the magnet on the outside of filter is a good idea,,,have a 2008 with 5.4 and have one on it,,,,after oil change I cut filter open and found a thin layer of sludge that no doubt had some microscopic metal particles,,,now the five quart jug of oil is 18.97 at WalMart and 25.99 at OReilleys

if you are going to change the oil every 5,000 miles, which I do, as i do a decent amount of towing, you might as well just use the syn blend and skip the full synthetic and save some money.
